About the Journal
Education as a discipline is versatile and fundamentally indispensable to all other areas of human
endeavour. Therefore, every attempt must be made to enrich educational contents for the particular
benefits of education students and lecturers and also for the general benefit of all stakeholders and
researchers in the field of education as well. The students and lecturers of education need a whole lot
of resource materials for proper intellectual cum professional equipment if they are to demonstrate
mastery in contents and pedagogy. Sourcing such voluminous materials may pose some avoidable
financial and logistical challenges. Consequently, there is a need to produce a compendium that
contains contemporary issues in varying aspects of education that would serve the immediate need of
the educational community.
This book of reading “Contemporary Issues in Education Vol. II” was produced to meet this felt need.
A concise literature but a rich collection of experts thoughts and positions in mathematics education,
science education, health education and human kinetics, vocational and technical education,
information and library science, teacher education and counselling psychology etc. This book;
“Contemporary Issues in Education Vol II” though a production of the Department of Science
Education was deliberately expanded to include areas outside but germane to science education thus
encouraging the modern paradigm of inter-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary approaches to teaching
and learning. This edition is the second in the series. More editions will hopefully follow in the months
ahead to accommodate more areas in science education and beyond.
This book would serve the interest of students and lecturers in education and the behavioural sciences
as well as the general academic community and anyone else who may wish to acquire more knowledge
for personal awareness, intellectual enrichment and wholesome education.
