Urbanization and Deforestation in the Niger Delta: Warri and Environs in Focus

Abstract

The sustainable management of forests is key to both the mitigation and adaptation to the effects of climate change. However, the role of deforestation in causing climate change has always been relegated with emphasis placed only on oil and gas activities. In this study, the rate of deforestation in Warri and environs was examined and analyzed using the rate of development of residential and commercial structures as indicators of deforestation.
