This study is titled Public Relations and Image Management of the Nigeria Police Force in Adamawa State. The study aimed to explore how the Nigeria Police Force applies public relations strategies to improve and project its image in Adamawa State. It was based on the Public Relations Transfer Process Model, with support from Systems Theory. The study employed a survey research method and used purposive sampling to select 130 police officers, predominantly from the Police Headquarters in Yola. In addition, 180 respondents were purposively chosen from the three senatorial zones in the state, including Jimeta, Mubi North, and Numan Local Government Areas. Data were collected using questionnaire, and the data analysis was done through both quantitative and qualitative methods. The findings revealed that while the Nigeria Police Force in Adamawa State acknowledges the role of public relations in relationship management and image management, its application remains limited. The most frequently used public relations strategy was making phone numbers available for public contacts. However, the study also highlighted that, although public relations efforts were being made, they were not being executed effectively. Additionally, the study identified various challenges faced by the police in applying public relations properly and effectively. These include insufficient working tools, a limited number of
police officers, low public trust, and the absence of trained and certified public relations professionals within the police force. The study concluded that the Nigeria Police Force in Adamawa State is aware of the public's lack of trust and confidence in it, indicating that its
relationship with the public is not as positive as expected. Consequently, the study recommended that the federal government should increase recruitment to match the growing population's security needs. It also suggested that public relations programs should be incorporated into the curriculum of the Nigeria Police Training Schools.
