Abstract

This article aims to study the imagery of similes in selected poems from the collection "Journey of the Mind" by Abdullah Muhammad As-Sani, which contains many of the well-known themes of poetry, such as Eulogy ان ذًح , Proudness انفخز , Apology الاعزذار , Elegy انزصبء , Description إن صف , among other subjects. The Poet Abdullah Muhammad As-Sani, demonstrated skill in controlling vocabularies and structures, with his meanings characterized by simplicity and an avoidance of complexity and ambiguity, making it easy for the audience to understand and accept. The objectives of this Article are as follows: 1- Highlighting the poetic artistry of Abdullahi Muhammad As-Sani and his skill in poetic imagery 2- Analizing the simile-based imagery in some of his poems and clarifying their rhetorical features. The study relies on the historical methodology to introduce the Poet, and also used the descriptive methodology to extract and analyze the different types of simile phenomena in the studied poems. The researcher has reached several findings, among which are: 1- the poet excelled I selecting simile-based imagery, ensuring that it aligned well with the context 2- the poet was influenced by his religious upbringing and scholarly environment, which led him to produce poetry that stemmed from his nature sensibility, adhering from classical style of Arabic poetry and incorporating various rhetorics images.
