Socio-Cultural Impediments to Women Utilization of Primary Health Care Services in Ugbogiobo Community, Edo State, Nigeria

The main aim of the study was to explore the socio-cultural impediments to women utilization of primary healthcare services in Ugbogiobo community. The study adopts both the quantitative and qualitative method of data collection. The cross-sectional descriptive survey design was adopted for the study. The research instruments used were the semi-structured questionnaire and in-depth interview guide. The population of study consists of all the women from Ugbogiobo community and the Taro Yamane’s statistical formular was used in determining a sample size of three hundred and forty-four respondents. The study found that the level of education affects women utilization of healthcare services in Ugbogiobo community. The study concludes that maternal mortality is low in the community as modern healthcare facilities are been utilized by the women. The study recommends empowerment of women as prerequisites for any tangible improvements in the utilization of maternal healthcare.
